INTERNATIONAL PRESS RELEASE
Dr. Anthony Raju Condemns Reported School Strike in Minab, Iran
Calls for Immediate UN Investigation and Global Accountability
A tragic and deeply disturbing report has emerged from Minab, southern Iran, where a strike allegedly hit a girls’ school, resulting in the deaths of at least 153 people, including children. According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, a total of 201 people have reportedly been killed and 747 injured in air strikes since Saturday.
The school was located near a base associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which has previously been a target in regional tensions.
Iran has attributed responsibility to the United States and Israel. The United States Central Command stated that it is reviewing the reports, while the Israel Defense Forces has declared it is not aware of operations in the area.
STRONG STATEMENT BY DR. ANTHONY RAJU
Dr. Anthony Raju, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, Chairman of the All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties and Social Justice, and Global Peace and Human Rights Defender, has issued a strong global condemnation of the incident.
If these reports are verified, this represents a grave violation of international humanitarian law. Schools are protected spaces under international conventions. Children are not combatants. The targeting of civilian institutions strikes at the very foundation of human civilization.
Dr. Raju emphasized that under international law, particularly the Geneva Conventions and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, deliberate or reckless attacks on civilian educational institutions may constitute serious breaches and potentially war crimes.
CALL FOR INTERNATIONAL ACTION
Dr. Raju calls upon UNICEF to immediately intervene and assess the humanitarian impact.
He further urges the United Nations Security Council to initiate an independent, transparent international investigation.
Dr. Raju calls on global leaders and Nobel Peace Laureates to uphold the principles of human dignity and justice and to speak unequivocally against attacks on civilians.
Immediate humanitarian access must be granted to the affected region to provide urgent medical and psychological assistance to survivors.
HUMAN RIGHTS DIMENSION
The deaths of children in conflict zones represent not only national tragedies but global human rights emergencies. International humanitarian law mandates distinction, proportionality, and protection of civilians during armed conflict.
Selective silence weakens the moral foundation of global governance.
GLOBAL APPEAL
Dr. Anthony Raju urges the international community to rise above political alignment and act decisively to protect children in conflict zones, ensure accountability for violations, strengthen global mechanisms preventing civilian harm, and restore faith in international justice systems.
